I can get the firmware (U34V110.BIN) to load properly and SANE to recognize it (after patching it up with the USB Snapscan patch and the AcerScan 640U id strings), but when I go to preview or scan in GIMP, I get maybe 10 scan lines of good data and then the rest of the image data gets progessively mangled up. |

My Acer Prisa 620U is working perfeclty (maybe a bit slower) under linux. Got help from http://utopia.knoware.nl/~joey/linux/acerscan.htm to modify my kernel 2.2.16 + USB Backport and SANE-1.0.1. Follow the instructions on this page and it will work for you as well. |

I have an Acer ScanPrisa 640U scanner and it works for me in 600 dpi. With the instructions in the linux usb guide on page http://linuxusbguide.sourceforge.net/USB-guide-1.0.9/x692.html I succesfully made my scanner work with sane-1.0.1. Other acer scanners might work also. I could not use the new sane version because the pathes were for sane-1.0.1, but it works. I'm using kernel version 2.2.16 with backported usb drivers. |
