I use the Creaf. Webcam 3, (511+, 7620) and all is well with the world.
I STRONGLY suggest that anyone having problems get the most recent driver from the maintainer's page and recompile.
Great work! |

I have an ADS PCI USB card, and am trying to get my Webcam 3 to work with it. I do not know how to get my computer or any video program such as xawtv to work with it, and I was wondering how. I am running kernel 2.2.9-19mdk and don't know where to start. I used lspci to get info, and it finds my USB card on IRQ 9, though I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me? |

I've tested it with 2.2.17 SMP (with the backport patch for 2.2.16), and
I managed several times to make the machine freeze. If you want to
further investigate, it happens when you kill a process after the
ioctl VIDIOCMCAPTURE and before the ioctl VIDIOCSYNC. |

I have a Webcam3 that gives very good image quality with
2.2.18pre27. But I am having some problems with vidcap
applications that hang and when using kill to shut them
down they sometimes hang the whole machine. I don't know
if it has something to do with SMP (it is a dual pIII)
to do.
Anyone having the same problem as me?
Best Regards,
Björn |

I have a CLW3 running with 2.4.0-test11 and it works ok with xawtv. Didn't succeed in making a avi movie or mpeg movie yet. Stills work ok. Colour is not extremely good but not really bad either. |

works well with the ov511 driver, although I had to compile it and usb support (including usbcore) as modules and load them at run time.
the 1fps frame rate is unfortunate. I'm wondering if it's possible to compile xawtv for a lower image size and sacrifice resolution for refresh rate?--I couldn't get that to work. |

Have a webcam3 working just fine. When displayed side by side with my phillips, however, the colours are just *wrong*. But otherwise works great. |

The CL webcam 3 works rather well with kernel 2.2.16+usb backport. Some problems with colours, however. The best results are from xawtv. |

camera is working reasonably well with latest kernel (2.4.0-test1+). Frame rate is pretty slow (about 1fps at 640x480) because omnivision has not released specs for using the camera with compression enabled. If writing software for this camera, be aware that the drivers seem to be sensitive to open/close sequences.... in other words, open the device and capture all the pix you like but don't try and open and close the device for each image capture as I have had problems with total system lockup (being investigated). |
