The page http://go.lamarinapunto.com no longer exists. Instead there is http://www.linux-projects.org/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=1 for those who still use this type of cam. |

Hi,
installed the modules (usbvideo, webcamdrv) with success. I can see the device both in log/messages, in /proc/bus/usb. However, something is still not working ok, since the video device is off...checked /dev/video and everything seems normal. It's there, permissions ok...any tests I can do, that am not remembering, to see if this is a problem with the drivers?
Thanks,
Rute C. Sofia |

Now said to be partially working.
(Please change the status to show as such.)
you'll need the cvs drivers:
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.linux-usb.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/linux-usb co usbvideo
You need to use, both from cvs, usbvideo.o & webcamgo(drv).o from the cvs to get it working. If you try to do webcamgo(drv).o from the cvs and usbvideo.o from kernel-2.4.16, it won't work (this is the config we're working on now. there were some changes in usbvideo.c/h since kernel 2.4.4.)

I agree with a post somewhere above. Just forget this cam, and if you have one, put it for sale at ebay. |

Well, I've tired the drivers in http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/winbond-webcam,
and I can't do nothing with my camera. Perhaps it's
because I've not configured it properly, I don't know...
Isent a email to creative asking them for a driver
for linux. I said I didn't wanted the driver to be free source, that I only wanted to work with my camera under Linux...
it is reasonable, they must give support to their clients.
The page said they'd answer in 1 day, but after 2 weeks I Don't have any answer.... |

I come to the conclusion that if we want a driver for that cam we have to do it ourselves.. Is anyone working on it? I haven't got the slightest idea of how to do the driver, but hopefully I can help if someone gets me in the right direction.

this is just a note to Raul's post earlier (of which he probabely won't read this 'cause it was sometime ago).
If you hear or read anything pertaining to, creative's linux drivers are in developement or they're being worked on, don't believe anything until you actually see the (linux) drivers! Although i hate saying this, creative posted some news on their website stating that they were currently working on linux drivers for the webcam go ~February of 2000. eh, we're still waiting. that particular webpage may not be found at all today.
You may also come across some news/usenet posts (of which may denote a "Creative Labs Employee" signature in the email address --or tech support, etc) which state, i've seen the linux drivers for the webcam go in action and they look nice, or similar. eh, again, ~4 months after such, and still nothing.
Hope this clears up the creative's linux drivers for linux issues. |

I'm starting to write a new driver for it, based on the work of Mark. There is anyone that is interested joining this stuffs.
I plan to support the v4l api1 for this driver.
At the moment I'm able to read and set all of the registers of the camera.

I opened mine, and there is a WF9968CF, an 8 megabyte RAM chip, a Creative CT7515-01, and Toshiba Y10709 (apparently a controller for the LCD display), and an image sensor that I could not identify. The camera is model number CT7510 (though the box says CT7150). Since the windows drivers contain some Omnivision (makers of the OV511 chip used in the WebCam III) code, I suspect that the sensor may be one of theirs. |

I've done some probing with the usbutils on this webcam go. posted (logs/notes) results up on creative.linux newsgoup recently. activated the green powerlight and including the snapshot button (some sort of ready mode i pressume...what happens when you first plug it in, it sounds off and the light comes on). using cpia driver and OpenLinux 2.4. haven't been able to repeat results yet. email me if any of you have any ideas. |

I am interested in buying one of the Creative cameras. Preferably, it would be this one (GO PLUS) but this is pending for the existence of a Linux driver.
I refuse to buy hardware that is not supported in Linux, so I would like to know if such a driver will exist in a very near future.
Thanks. |
