He thinks it might be a Mars-semi chip. Creative is/are not supportive about providing information on which chipset is used. I just exchanged the vendorId and productId on couple of places in the driver source, I am no kernel hacker. I can confirm that the camera works with that modification. I cannot compare the picture quality with the windows original driver (I don't have windows installed on my machine), but the video seems rather dark and adjusting the brightness and such didn't help much.
