2002-03-27 23:13:51 I have the camera l'espion. But when I connevt my camera with USB to my PC it detects new hardware. I then update the driver. But in the end it sais that an error occured. So i can't get it done. Has anyone problems like this with l'espion camera? The trouble shootings on the net of the company are of no help.

2001-09-06 16:39:50 UPDATE: Since I have received a number of emails asking for the software I mentioned in my earlier UPDATE note, I have decided to post the address from which this software may be obtained: http://personal.clt.bellsouth.net/~kjsisson The software is working fairly well, and I have some more additions/changes to make, so there may be a new release in a few days. The code in gphoto2 is mainly for the serial version of STV0680 cameras; it doesn't recongize my usb version.

2001-09-06 01:55:12 There seems to be a driver for the STV0680 chipset in gphoto2: www.gphoto.net

2001-08-14 17:24:11 UPDATE (Aug 13, 2001): Bart Hartgers, a student living in the Netherlands, has figured out how to download the pictures from the usb STV0680 based camera (NOTE: there are two versions of this chip: STV0680B-01 and -03. The -03 version has the capability of recording sound, but is otherwise completely compatible with the -01 version). His program is a command line version; I have added a few options to download an individual picture or a range of pictures instead of all of them. I am trying to add a sharpness function as well (all processing is done in software with this chip). I will be using the code that Winston Chang developed for the unsharp mask used in the Gimp. He has offered me some help in this but is currently moving and will not be able to do much else for at least a week. Bart is also very busy working on his PhD thesis, and my C programming skills are pretty rusty. There should be a fairly decent command line program to download/process pictures in a few weeks. I will post a notice to the linux-usb mailing lists when it is ready. In the meantime, if you absolutely must download some pictures (before the batteries die), email me and I will send you what I have.

2001-07-31 07:44:20 I have a camera with what I think is the same chipset. The main USB chip appears to be an STV06080B. The URL is http://www.vvl.co.uk/products/co-processors/680/680.htm My camera comes with 2Mbyte of RAM and a USB interface, but the chipset apparently supports up to 8 Mbyte, playing and recording WAVs, RS232 and USB, flash control and either QIF (what I have) or VGA image sensors. There is an SDK that comes with the prototyping board ST sells which might help in development, although it is Windoze focused. The company that made my camera is http://www.playworks.net.au/products/camera/index.htm They have written a MacOS and a Win98/ME/2k driver for it.

2001-07-16 17:00:01 I believe I have the same camera (same info in usbview), but it is labeled as a Nisis Quickpix2 camera. The MS info and driver list Aiptek as the source. I don't have it working yet either; somewhere on this site another Aiptek camera is listed as working uder the cpia drivers.
