I have a Lacie 20GB Mobile Drive (USB 2.0) which is in fact an EagleTec External hard drive (you see it in the system log). Now I made it work following the instructions about EagleTec drives in this site (I deleted the EagleTec entry in unusual_dev.h and recompiled usb-storage.o).
However, it works well only with USB1.1 on my laptop, but I think the problem is due to my CardBus USB 2.0 controller.
UPDATE: in fact it is, I tried with another USB 2.0 PCI card and it works perfectly even with USB 2.0 |

I got some 20GB version of External Hard Disk Drive to work on 2.4 as well 2.2 kernels with some modifications to the kernel source. See http://agni.csa.iisc.ernet.in/lacie.html
Thanks.

I can't get the 20G to work under 2.4.5-pre5.
It gets the vendor/product then starts dying, with an
error getting string descriptor 0 (error = -110)
Still tinkering though. |

20GB works with stock 2.4.2 kernel. Be sure to use the usb-uhci.o kernel driver instead of the uhci.o (JE) driver. |

Tested same 10Gb device on RedHat 7.0 (w/stock 2.2.? kernel) successfully, as well as on 2.4.2 pristine + loop-6 patch. |

Tested 20 GB version. Does not work with Backport for me, but 2.4.0-test10-pre5 is rockstable for me. |

Tested LaCie 10Gb external USB hard drive on kernel 2.2.15 with 2.3.99-pre7 usb backport. Vendor product ID 059f:a601. Works like a champ. Thanks, all. |
