Yep, no kidding on the IBM Net Camera (Part Number 22P5084). On some modes I get a visible image at the very top and bottom, but essentially useless. |

was a breeze to get working with RH 7.2 kernel-2.4.7-10. /sbin/modprobe ibmcam framerate=30 lighting=2 sharpness=0...You can check out the docs for the drivers to learn more about tweaking the settings. Wish it had auto correction like the win drivers but oh well. I would rather use RedHat... |

I have a "freebie" PC still camera given away by Earthlink
(and it's worth every penny I paid for it), made by Xirlink,
which reports the same USB ID as the webcam. I have had no
luck getting a driver to work with it under USB (haven't
tried serial). Anyone have one of these, and have you had
any luck getting gPhoto (or any other image downloading
software) to work with it? |

I have it working under 2.4.2 and 2.4.13. For whatever reason I could not get it working under 2.4.3 - 2.4.9. I have the pro model (version 3) of the camera and it works fine with xawtv, but the colors are a little off. Under the webcam application it is much better. It also helps when loading the ibmcam.o module to set the parameters for lighting, size, contrast, etc. I found that these help out a great deal. There is still some noise in the picture and the quality is fair compared to using the same camera under Windows. |

Got mine to work under RH 7.1. Image isn't very good, but this has always been a crappy cam, not the driver's fault... In fact, the GNU/Linux driver & xawtv is little better than the Win2K one, imo
If anyone needs help setting this up, drop me a note. |

I tried and it worked ok. My only problem is that when I grab a picture it is a bigger size than the actual image. The image is about a quarter of it, the rest is black.
I wouldn't recomended for good quality app, but for testing and playing it is ok. |

driver seems to be _really_ experimental! i got it running with xawtv, but none of the frame-grabbing-tools wanna work.. i gonna go to the shop and get another one! |

The current ibmcam driver only supports the IBM PC Camera
with the 0545:8080 id and version 0.02 or 3.0a. The camera
that I have has the id 0545:8002 and version 3.0a.
