this driver is a mystery. almost no info to be found on google. no user experience.. companies selling designs based around this (planet.com.tw) do not advertise their linux support. the few people with an adapter based on this chip use ndiswrapper and never heard about native linux support...
the driver supports the normal wireless api (iwconfig...). supports WEP, soft AP mode.. no WPA support though.
i suspect this driver wasnt tested very well (README says "tested only on redhat 9"); hoping it works on powerpc is maybe too much asking.
Compiles on x86, but spits lots of warnings. Doesn't compile on ppc (3 lines of asm in a header).
it feels... unpolished. thanks for GPLing the work but could have done better. |

Hello,
I tried this driver after ndiswrapper which didn\'t work fine for me. I use a SAGEM Dongle XG760A on a linux debian sarge 2.6.15 : all works !!!

There is now a project that will try to mantain the driver:

Its first release is based on the 4916 version. |
